In this article educators will find steps that describe how to use Assistive Technology and how to implement it in their classroom. It has been discussed previous how school faculty and teachers receive AT devices for the use of their student and classroom, but are not properly trained or fail to implement the devices in the classroom. This results in no progress from the student’s side especially in that of Special ED students.

The whole idea of assistive technology is great. But unfortunately, it is true that all teachers are not trained properly to implement the devices in their classroom. This can also raise the question of whether or not inclusive classes are beneficial or not. As we all know a general education teacher has limited training with students with special needs. Therefore, AT devices is not something they are trained with as well. Training teachers will be great idea, but the reality is where will the funding come from? If this article is a manual, then it might be handy. Yet, even if it was manual when will teachers have the time to read it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ms. D. It would be difficult to get teachers to learn how to use it, as they would need to be trained and right now, with all of the budget cuts,that seems nearly impossible. I do think that it is a fantastic tool though and special planning should go into it so that teachers are trained, that way, the tool will be used properly and effectively.
